Things To Do
Fort Hays State Historic Site
Established in 1867 to protect the construction workers who were building the Union Pacific Railroad. The original blockhouse, guardhouse, and officers quarters remain along with exhibits interpreting pioneer and military history. A modern visitor center helps interpret the significance of the fort and the grounds contain extensive interpretive signage which provide an overview of the fort and its history.

I-70 exit 159, S on Vine St to 183 by-pass, W on by-pass to entrance of fort.
